Founded in 1996 in the city of San Mateo, City Arts is a non-profit organization for the arts. The goal of the organization is to promote the arts inside the community to all the members so they can all enjoy or even participate in making any type of art.

City Arts focuses on every form of art from music, to dance, film, theater, sculpture and painting, to much more and the members that form it spend an enormous amount of time and effort into making people aware of the beauty of the several different types of art.

While funding for City Arts mostly comes from selling memberships to individuals or businesses, the activity performed within the organization is all volunteer based. Many of the volunteers for the City Arts share the same interests as the original founders. They have a passion for art and find joy in spreading the word about what art means to them.

City Arts has been responsible for organizing various activities and events in the past consisting of concerts, exhibitions and many more, and all of them have only been possible with the help of volunteers. Both young and old, these have helped the organization bring together every detail of its events.

A volunteer must be hard working and kind, he or she must believe with a passion in the cause of the organization and what they strive for. City Arts of San Mateo has had many assistants in the past and many show interest in giving a helping hand, especially after they participate or hear about events and activities organized by the non-profit.

Volunteers work with people, pieces of art, singers, painters, sculptors, dancers and many more to put together a wonderful show and attract the audience to the beauty of art itself.
